About Us

The Warri Progressive Society (Otonloye) is a non-partisan, philanthropic and social-cultural society with 15 branches in Nigeria and one in London, UK.
The first Otonloye branch was founded in 1961 in Sapele, Nigeria. In another 2 years, the society expanded with branches springing up in Warri (1963), Koko (1964), Lagos (1965), Benin (1968), London (1968), Abigborodo (1977), Orere (1977), Asaba (2001), Ologbo/Ajoki (2016).

The first National Delegate Conference was held in Warri in 1969 and subsequently resolved on a rotational basis to branches for hosting. The motto of the society is peace and unity.

The emblem is an embodiment of our heritage and aspirations, a dove carrying a closed-linked chain. The dove from time immemorial symbolises peace, while the chain epitomises the society’s faith in unity.

The society strongly believes in the unity of purpose and the pooling of resources together in the drive for the socioeconomic and cultural development of our people.
